Broadcaster sat in Brentford stand claims all Bees fans blown away by how good one Leeds star is

You might expect that the Brentford fans would have been preoccupied with the Kiko Casilla blunder that gifted them their goal last night.

However, Virgin Radio broadcaster Rich Williams claims he was sat in the Brentford main stand and “During the game and on the way out, their fans… to a man, woman and child… were talking about one thing and one thing only… How good Kalvin Phillips is.”

Williams put out that complimentary message on his personal Twitter account after the 1-1 draw at Griffin Park.

Phillips was back after a three-game suspension and he absolutely ruled the middle of the park.

According to LUFCDATA he had the highest pass accuracy, the most successful passes of any player on the pitch and the most ball recoveries, as well as making 13/15 successful long balls.

If Phillips was looking to make amends after that stupid tackle in the QPR game then this was a fine start.

He was so good the Brentford midfield – Mathias Jensen, Christian Norgaard, and Josh Dasilva – hardly got a sniff of the ball, with Dasilva going off injured after 63 minutes.

Leeds were consequently so dominant that it was disappointing not to get all three points.

Phillips isn’t a secret anymore. Premier League sides were sniffing around last summer, Gareth Southgate has been seen at Leeds games and it sounds like he cast a spell over the Griffin Park faithful last night, too.

Leeds United are a different proposition with Phillips in the side and he could be the catalyst for a much-needed run in the league.
