Supercomputer predicts where Leeds will finish in PL and points total after 6-2 mauling
Predictions site FiveThirtyEight has updated its Premier League table after the latest run of fixtures and Leeds United are set for a 13th-placed finish.
Man City are predicted to win the league on goal difference and West Brom, Sheffield United and Fulham are set for the drop.
West Brom – Leeds’ opponents on December 29 – are predicted to end rock bottom in their first season back in the Premier League.
FiveThirtyEight is headed up by famous data analyst Nate Silver and the Premier League predictor is based around their SPI ratings of expected goals scored and conceded.
Leeds conceded six last Sunday to a Man United side that is predicted to finish third in the league this season.
13th is just fine
Despite the 6-2 mauling, there’s no real evidence of panic among any Leeds fans.
The thinking is that defeats like this will happen as a consequence of the way Bielsa is setting us up to play.
The only downside is that the biggest defeat of the season happened against Man United.
Leeds are predicted to finish on 46 points, 12 points off the drop and that would be perfect.
Survival in the Premier League is the only thing that matters and next summer will be the key to pushing on and aiming for a top-half finish.
The way that Leeds bounce back is hugely important, too. Big Sam has gone to West Brom and that will likely make them harder to beat than they were under Slaven Bilic.
Burnley are predicted to finish one place off the dropzone.
Both are games that Leeds will be targeting for maximum points.
Christmas games can sometimes throw up strange results but we’re absolutely convinced that Bielsa will be monitoring his players closely over the festive period and we’re not expecting any turkey hangovers.
