Leeds United are in a bit of a funk at the moment, with three consecutive defeats (two in the Premier League) and no goals scored in any of them.
Losses to Tottenham, Crawley and Brighton have seen us concede seven without reply but we’re still 12th in the league.
And the latest prediction from the FiveThirtyEight Supercomputer has us finishing in the exact same spot at the end of the season.
It would see us finish one point and one place ahead of Wolves on 46 points, with Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield United getting relegated.
At the other end of the table, FiveThirtyEight has Man City winning the league at a canter, a full 10 points ahead of Liverpool.
Leeds are in good company with their form – Liverpool haven’t scored in three Premier Leagues now and drew 1-1 with West Brom before that.
Halfway to safety
We were expecting a lot more from the game against Brighton (and Crawley come to that!).
However, the FiveThirtyEight prediction site thinks that Leeds will finish the season much as it started it.
We’re almost at the halfway point of the season and we’re predicted to double our points tally of 23 points in the final 20 games.
We’re hoping for three of those against Newcastle – a side that is predicted to finish 16th – next.
We’ve already beaten Newcastle 5-2 at Elland Road and we’ll be looking forward to playing. them on an even better pitch at St Jame’s Park a week on Tuesday.
The Leeds players get this weekend off while the FA Cup fourth round games take place.
However, after our run of form, we’re not expecting Marcelo Bielsa to go easy on the players at Thorp Arch.
