Leeds United will finish 13th in the Premier League according to the latest prediction from FiveThirtyEight’s Supercomputer.
It will see them finish one point above Brighton and one place below Everton.
Saturday’s opponents Chelsea will finish in fourth behind Tottenham, Liverpool and Man City.
Leeds’ predicted points total is 47 – 23 behind Saturday’s opponents.
FiveThirtyEight is predicting both other promoted clubs, West Brom and Fulham, will go down, with Sheffield United the other side to slip through the trapdoor and into the dreaded Championship.
Leeds can go a bit higher
Leeds fans would have snapped 13th place at the start of the season. Staying in the Premier League is everything.
However, given the start Leeds have had, we think they can aim for a top-half finish.
They travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday to face a Chelsea side who are firing near the top of the Premier League.
There’s a big rivalry between the clubs that goes back to the 60s and the addition of Frank Lampard as manager has brought this bang up to date.
Leeds fans would love to go and take three points from Stamford Bridge and given how the Whites have played against Liverpool and Man City, there’s every hope of a shock.
Leeds go into the game on the back of a very smart 1-0 win against Everton last weekend and that game completed the first back-to-back shutouts for the club after two 4-1 defeats.
Another win against Chelsea will give the FiveThirtyEight supercomputer plenty to think about ahead of next week’s prediction.
