Stuart Dallas blown away by ‘incredible’ Illan Meslier in Leeds win v Coventry
Stuart Dallas waxed lyrical about Illan Meslier after his “incredible” performance for Leeds United in their 2-0 win against Coventry City on Wednesday.
The Whites earned a comfortable victory over Frank Lampard’s side away from home in the Championship on 5 February, with first-half goals from Joel Piroe and Jayden Bogle getting the job done.
Daniel Farke’s side could have added more goals to their tally, having registered seven shots on targets, but Dallas, who provided his thoughts for LUTV, believes Meslier deserves due credit for his two stunning saves, particularly since has been under a lot of pressure recently.
“He was suffering after them mistakes, that’s for sure, and you come in for a lot of criticism”, Dallas said on LUTV (5 February, 9:52 pm).
“To pull off two saves there regardless is incredible”.

Meslier had little to do in the game, but was called into action on occasion as the hosts registered four shots on target in total.
The Frenchman had to pull two saves from the top drawer to keep the Sky Blues at bay, particularly denying a Ellis Simms header in the 58th minute.
Meslier has come in for criticism from fans and pundits after his errors against Sunderland and Hull City this season, with those mistakes essentially costing Leeds four points.
However, as ever, the Whites fanbase always shows appreciation to their players when they do well and it is no different for the 24-year-old.
Adam Pope, who tore the Elland Road outfit apart for their wasteful in front of goal [BBC], notably tipped his hat to the former Lorient shot-stopper via his personal X account after the game (5 February).
It now remains to be seen if Meslier can take confidence from the performance and avoid costly mistakes in the upcoming games as Farke and Co look to earn promotion to the Premier League.
