Steve Sidwell left mind blown after Jack Harrison own-goal in Leeds United 2-2 draw v Brighton
Steve Sidwell was left gobsmacked by Leeds winger Jack Harrison’s own goal in the 2-2 draw with Brighton on Saturday afternoon at Elland Road.
The Whites fought from behind twice to claim a share of the points, but find themselves in 19th in the Premier League after Harrison scored a late screamer to equalise.
That goals was him making amends for a bizarre own goal earlier in the half which had given Brighton the lead again, and Sidwell was stunned live on BT Sport Score (11 March, 16:18) by what he had just seen.

“Somehow Harrison goes to hit it with his left foot and whips it into his own net,” he said.
“I can’t believe Harrison.. why’s he gone with his left foot? Just go with your right foot. I cannot believe he’s done that.”
Crazy
Obviously right now the point looks like a good one considering how the game went, but those tiny margins could be the difference come the end of the season.
Harrison had a rollercoaster of a game and ultimately he saved us with his worldie of a strike late on. But the own goal can’t be erased from memory because of it.

It would have been so easy for him to just hook the ball away with his right foot, and we know he can use it because of the stunning goal he scored later in the game.
It’s hard to be too harsh on him because 99 times out of 100 he hooks it away with his left foot and nobody even mentions it, but when you’re at the bottom of the table these are the things that happen and we simply can’t afford it right now.
We’re running out of games to claim wins and points to get us out of trouble, but this is certainly a point gained rather than two dropped.
