Stan Collymore predicts Leeds United v Chelsea scoreline in Premier League showdown

Stan Collymore predicts Leeds United to suffer their first Premier League defeat of the season at the hands of Chelsea at Elland Road on Sunday.

Jesse Marsch’s side have started the new campaign well, picking up four points from their opening two games.

However, Collymore doubts that Leeds’ good form will continue against title-chasing Chelsea, who also have four points from their first two fixtures.

Writing for the Sunday People on 21 August (page 62), Collymore said: “Cracking game harking back to the 70s but Chelsea will have just too much.”

Collymore predicts a 2-1 win for Thomas Tuchel’s side in West Yorkshire.

We’re not going to pretend as though Leeds should be winning this game.

Chelsea haven’t had an amazing start to the season but they’re more than capable of beating us quite easily if we catch them at their best.

However, on their day, Leeds can mount a challenge to most Premier League sides and Chelsea are one of those who we might be able to cause some issues against.

Collymore seems to think the same, despite predicting we’ll lose.

He’s still backed the Whites to get on the scoresheet and he’s only predicted Tuchel’s men to win by the one goal.

Leeds will have it all to do without Liam Cooper and Patrick Bamford.

However, Rodrigo has been in stunning form since the Premier League season started with three goals in his first two appearances.

While we don’t expect the Spaniard to win the golden boot award or anything like that, it’s great to see him finally firing on all cylinders and he’s someone who Chelsea need to be wary of.

It won’t be easy and we’re not going into this game with any expectations.

But Leeds are doing well currently and a famous win could be on the cards.
