Spotted: Raphinha has ice strapped to leg after substitution in Leeds United game
Raphinha was spotted with ice strapped to his leg after he was taken off as Leeds United drew 1-1 with Newcastle on Friday night.
After giving the Whites the lead an impressing throughout, there was a bit of confusion when Marcelo Bielsa took Raphinha off in the 67th minute to replace him with debutant Crysencio Summerville.
However, LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross has suggested why Raphinha may have been taken off early.
Writing via his personal Twitter account during the second half, Cross spotted Raphinha with ice strapped to his thigh or groin area, “which may explain the early withdrawal”.
Oh no
Raphinha better not be injured.
It’s bad enough as it is with the defensive injury crisis and having Jack Harrison out too with an illness.
But to have Raphinha unavailable for any games is a disaster waiting to happen.
The Brazilian showcased at St James’ Park why he’s such a key player for Leeds.
While we’ll admit he was a bit fortunate with his goal as it was sold by Rodrigo’s dummy in front of Karl Darlow. Raphinha shone in other areas.
Almost every attack went through the Brazilian during his time on the pitch and he should really have scored again or at least set up a goal.
If he’s out of our next Premier League game – as well as the defensive selection issues and potentially having Harrison out – we could see our winless start to the league season go into a sixth game.
We’re not worried about anything like relegation but Bielsa has a lot to sort out.
