Sonny Perkins, Darko Gyabi and Mateo Joseph start - Confirmed Leeds United XI vs Wolves

Jesse Marsch has made 10 changes to his Leeds United starting lineup for the Carabao Cup clash with Wolves on Wednesday night (9 November).

Joel Robles makes his first start for the club in goal after his summer arrival, while Luke Ayling, Mateusz Klich and Jack Harrison return to the side as the senior figures.

The big story is that Darko Gyabi, Sonny Perkins and Mateo Joseph all start for the first-team for the first time, while Joe Gelhardt also gets the nod in attack.

There are ten changes in total, with the bench full of academy talent including Italian international Willy Gnonto as several players are given the night off by Marsch.

Momentum

This is a big game for Leeds, not just because we want to progress into the last 16 of the Carabao Cup at the expense of Premier League opposition, but because we need to continue the momentum.

After eight games without a win, we finally managed to get some big victories over Liverpool and Bournemouth most recently and if we let that slide in this game just because it’s a cup game we’ll regret it.

The much changed team is a sign that Marsch is prioritising the Premier League, but this is a chance for several players to stake their claim for a starting role in the final game before the World Cup.

It’s a big game for Sonny Perkins, Mateo Joseph and Joe Gelhardt too in attack, with a starting spot clearly up for grabs in the first-team and both players impressing in recent appearances.

Junior Firpo also gets his chance to impress at left-back ahead of Pascal Struijk, while youngsters Diego Llorente is back in the centre of defence alongside youngster Leo Hjelde.
