Solomon stellar, 4/10 flops – Leeds United player ratings v Blackburn
Manor Solomon starred for Leeds United despite their Championship clash against Blackburn on Wednesday ending in a 1-1 draw.
The Whites were held to a draw by John Eustace’s men in what was a fairly end-to-end game throughout.
Leeds opened up the scoring thanks to the penalty that Pascal Struijk put away after Mateo Joseph was brought down in the Rovers box.
Blackburn didn’t take long to level the score however as the elation that emerged from the West Yorkshire outfit’s fan base was quickly squashed after Leeds conceded a corner after Danny Batth headed it home.
Here, MOT Leeds News has rated each player out of 10.
Illan Meslier – 7
Put on a decent display between the sticks and showcased his ability on more than one occasion, was rarely tested but was more than solid when called upon.
Jayden Bogle – 7 (Off for Ethan Ampadu, 50′)
One of his best performances for Leeds in recent memory and made many superbly timed tackles to stop Rovers’ attacks throughout, was unfortunately injured which resulted in the premature end of his stint.
Joe Rodon – 6
Not much else to say other than he once again put in an impressive performance and made many forward passes throughout the clash to advance the Whites’ attacks.
Pascal Struijk – 8
Much like Rodon, the Dutchman put in a formidable performance with Joe Rodon at the heart of Leeds’ defence, had a decent chance from a corner in the first 10 minutes and more than made up for it after scoring the opener.
Sam Byram – 5 (Off for Wober, 45′)
Dealt with Blackburn’s attacks well, and seemed to be targeted but wasn’t all that fazed by John Eustace’s men, hooked at half time and didn’t end up having much of an impact.
Joe Rothwell struggles for Leeds United v Blackburn
Joe Rothwell – 5 (Off for Rothwell, 69′)
Was decent in the centre of the park and helped out in both defence and attack but never really had much of a say in how the game ended up.
Ao Tanaka – 6
Solid performance once again, helped cover in defence when needed and helped add solidity to the back line, was left a bit outnumbered in the second half when Farke brought on his changes.
Dan James – 6

Interchanged positions with Manor Solomon more than once and helped provide some pace to Farke’s attack, wasn’t his best game in a white shirt but was decent enough.
Brenden Aaronson – 4
Took a hit to the eye in the early moments of the game and seemed to be hindered from that point onwards, wasn’t as effective as in his recent games.
Manor Solomon – 8 (Off for Bamford, 70′)
Was Leeds’ brightest player throughout the game and looked to be the most dangerous on the attack out of the Whites’ striking department. Was surprisingly hooked in the second half despite being the Whites’ most effective player.
Joel Piroe – 6 (Off for Jospeh, 69′)
Performed his ‘nine and a half’ role superbly once again and was decent when on the attack, seemed to be far more confident that Mateo Joseph was against Derby.
Substitutions
Max Wober – 5 (On for Byram, 45′)
Solid overall performance, didn’t have much to do but held down the fort to the best of his ability alongside his defensive teammates.
Ethan Ampadu – 6 (On for Bogle, 51′)
Helped provide some stability in the centre of the park and helped provide a solid link between the defence and the midfield, needed his rest.
Wilfried Gnonto – 5 (On for Rothwell, 69′)
Didn’t have anything to do when brought on, had a couple of decent forward runs in the dying embers of the game but didn’t have all that much of an impact.
Mateo Joseph – 7 (On for Piroe, 69′)
Perhaps Farke’s best substitute of the day added a new level of play to the attack and won the penalty that almost sealed all three points for Leeds.
Patrick Bamford – 4 (On for Solomon, 70′)
Was brought on to try and help the Whites out in attack but failed to have the desired impact, didn’t prove his worth and failed to show why Leeds should keep him in January.
