Sky Sports reporter stunned by what he saw in Leeds United 2-2 v Cardiff City

Sonny Perkins scored in the dying minutes for Leeds United as they earned a 2-2 draw against ten-man Cardiff City in the FA Clash on Sunday (8 January).

Sky Sports reporter Jamie Weir has slammed [live blog, 14:34] Leeds’ defending as “shambolic” when they conceded their second goal in the first half.

The Whites fought bravely in the second half and should have equalized through Rodrigo who missed a penalty. Eventually, the goal came from youngster Perkins who toe-poked from close range.

“Wow wow wow,” said Weir on Sky Sports.

“Cardiff 2-0 up and this place is going bananas! Absolutely shambolic defending from Leeds again, but a beautifully-timed run and cool finish from Sheyi Ojo.

“The Championship club are knocking out the Premier League club unless there’s a dramatic turnaround!”

The Whites earned a replay after a pulsating second-half display from the Whites.

Marsch made seven changes in the starting line-up from the side that drew against West Ham. The Whites made an encouraging start, but it was Cardiff who created two brilliant opportunities and took full advantage of shambolic defending from the visitors.

In the second half, the performance did improve with Rodrigo impressing yet again. He pulled one back with a thumping header but missed a glorious opportunity to equalise by missing a penalty.

Substitute Mateo Joseph got a fantastic opportunity to score, but he missed from close range.

Leeds enjoying numerical advantage piled pressure on Cardiff, and eventually got the goal from Perkins who showed great predatory instinct infant of goal.

The Whites probably won’t be happy with the replay considering the tight Premier League schedule they have, but they are still in the competition, and one more extra fixture for the fans to look forward to.

In other Leeds United news, the club is in advanced talks over another major signing, according to Fabrizio Romano.
