Sky Sports pundit waxes lyrical over Leeds United defender Diego Llorente v Newcastle

Andy Walker has waxed lyrical over Diego Llorente for his pass to Jack Harrison in the first half of the Leeds United v Newcastle clash on Saturday.

The Spain international played a terrific pass into Harrison’s stride who then put the ball into the danger area.

This did not lead to a goal but it was a clear signal of intent from the Whites.

Speaking on the Premier League world feed, Walker, a Sky Sports pundit, said, “Great cross-field pass from Llorente. Phenomenal vision from him. Really good stuff from Leeds here.”

Fine performance

Leeds started this game strongly and grew into the contest as the first half progressed.

They were first to most second balls and were constantly breathing down the throats of the Newcastle players.

It was a joy to see the likes of Harrison and Mateusz Klich getting so involved in the build-up as they have been peripheral figures of late.

Even defensively, the Whites have looked exceptional and have managed to keep the Newcastle attackers at bay.

A win here gets Leeds within touching distance of the top half – a position they didn’t think they would’ve been in a couple of months ago – when they were fighting against relegation,

The job is not done yet and they need to get out in the second half and deliver the goods by bagging at least a couple of goals.
