Sky Sports pundit stunned by 'unbelievable' Robin Koch moment in Leeds United v Fulham

Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker was blown away by the defending he saw from Leeds United in the first half of their 3-2 defeat to Fulham at Elland Road on Sunday.

Harrison Reed had a big chance to score when an effort at the back post beat Illan Meslier.

However, Marc Roca slid in to stop the ball from crossing the line before Robin Koch somehow managed to make a goal-saving clearance under pressure from Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Ex-Celtic striker Walker was stunned by the quality of defending Leeds showed in that moment.

“This is an unbelievable clearance,” speaking on CNBC on Sunday (23 October, 02:13pm).

“Harry Wilson does so well to get that ball into the box, there’s the touch and surely that’s a goal.

“But what a save that is on the line.

“It’s a really good strike from Reed, it’s beyond Meslier. But what about that for a save and then the clearance in the end from Koch [is] remarkable defending.”

It was goalless when Koch and Roca stopped Fulham from going ahead and minutes later, it was Rodrigo at the other end of the pitch scoring for Leeds.

Leeds’ defence hasn’t been great since they won promotion to the Premier League and Mitrovic’s goal in the first half showed that there’s still a big weakness at corners.

But what Leeds do very well is push extremely hard and the players will usually always leave everything on the pitch when they play.

Roca and Koch were excellent in that defensive phase of play.

A lot of other teams in the Premier League would have conceded either from Reed’s initial effort or Mitrovic’s follow-up but both Roca and Koch were superb at both chances to stop the goal.

Questions could be asked of why Reed was unmarked at the back post but ultimately, Leeds did the job at keeping the ball out of the back of the net.

It’s just a shame they weren’t as quick to react to that Mitrovic header not long later.
