Sky Sports pundit predicts ‘heavyweight’ Leeds United vs Leicester City result in ‘toughest challenge’ to Championship leaders

Leeds United have been tipped to provide runaway leaders Leicester City their “toughest challenge of the season” so far and get a point at the King Power, by David Prutton.

The Sky Sports pundit predicted the result of the “heavyweight clash” in his weekly column on the broadcaster’s website on 2 November and feels the Foxes “could well be held” despite being in “unstoppable” form of late.

Leicester have only failed to win once so far this term and sit 14 points ahead of the Whites but the visitors on Friday night (3 November) have been tipped as strong enough to record a 2-2 draw.

Leeds United

Prutton said: “A real heavyweight clash to kick things off on Friday night. Leicester City look imperious, unstoppable. They are breaking records everywhere, but this is surely their toughest challenge of the season so far.

“Leeds have as many points as Burnley did at the same stage last season, but they could well need to win here to try and keep track of the top two. It is a big, big game. I think the Foxes could well be held.”

It is currently hard for anyone to back Leicester opponents in light of their stunning form but Daniel Farke’s first XI are in the sort of form that they can cause anyone problems right now.

With the Whites boss having confirmed that key trio Joe Rodon, Crysencio Summerville and Sam Byram are all on track to be fit for the trip there will be confidence that Leeds United can come away with a result.

Hull City inflicted the only loss of the campaign on Enzo Maresca’s side on 2 September at the King Power and Farke has also taken his team to Portman Road and won 4-3 at second-placed Ipswich so it is anything but a foregone conclusion that the home side will continue their run.

Leeds United

Leeds haven’t been perfect, and the bump in the road provided by the 1-0 defeat at Stoke City on 25 October after the manager made changes to his line up showed that there is currently a drop off in quality within the squad.

But if ever there was a game where the strongest possible XI has to be sent out it is this one, as a result here would be a big statement as well as keeping Leicester from disappearing out of sight before Christmas.

If Summerville and Georginio Rutter can continue their sparkling form then it will give Leeds United a much greater chance, while Joel Piroe will be looking to end a quiet run of performances.

In other Leeds United news, Adam Pope says one Whites player is “in the balance” at the club amid questions over the chance he can recover.
