Sky Sports has worried Leeds United fans with a claim that Diego Llorente is “sidelined” for the game against Newcastle this evening.
In their Team News banner on Sky Sports News (Tuesday, 10.30am), the broadcaster said, “Goalkeeper Meslier and Phillips available. Koch, Berardi and Llorente sidelined.”
Llorente was said to be available in Marcelo Bielsa’s pre-match press conference.
The centre-back was on the bench for the last outing against Brighton and played 45 minutes in the Under-23s last week.
One concerned Leeds fan asked Phil Hay what was up. Hay said, “As of yesterday he was available.”

Surely a mistake from Sky?
It’s maybe not the definitive answer that Leeds fans were looking for from Hay but it does give real hope that this is just a lazy mistake from Sky Sports.
Bielsa was asked specifically about Llorente yesterday and he said that his Under-23s appearance meant he was ready to return to the Leeds first-team.
If there was an update from that then we’d assume that Hay and other Leeds journalists would hear as well as Sky Sports.
However, with the club’s policy around COVID there’s always the chance that something is happening behind the scenes.
Bielsa said Meslier was available for the Brighton game and was then missing after rumours started spreading before the game.
However, if the Leeds policy is one of silence, then we wouldn’t expect Sky Sports to have got an inside scoop.
We’re going to go with a mistake from Sky although we’ll be watching the team news with interest later on this afternoon.
If Llorente is fit then we expect him to start tonight.
