'Should have stayed in bed' – These Leeds fans react to 28y/o after display v Blackburn

There was a question mark over Luke Ayling’s fitness on Friday after his partner Poppy Weller posted an Instagram story of the Leeds United defender tucked up in bed along with the message “Looking after poorly boy”.

The 28-year-old ended up starting for Leeds against Blackburn on Saturday but he wasn’t at the races in the first half of the game and it certainly looked to us like he was playing far from 100%.

That was the consensus from the Leeds fans too after he was guilty of giving the ball away a few times.

He did make a vital contribution, though, getting tripped for the penalty for the opening goal that was cooly dispatched by Patrick Bamford – his first goal in 11 games.

Ayling didn’t do much else though and he was at fault for the Blackburn goal, losing Derrick Williams from a Stewart Downing corner.

That made the game much tenser than it should have been this afternoon, but Leeds managed to hang on for the vital three points that see them hanging onto West Brom’s coat-tails at the top.

To his credit, Ayling made it all the way through 90 minutes and looked sharp going forward, but it might be straight back to bed for him tonight.

This is what the Leeds fans made of him on Saturday…
