Sean Longstaff breaks Leeds club record in all-action performance vs Bournemouth
Leeds midfielder Sean Longstaff was everywhere against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Longstaff put in a man-of-the match performance in the 2-2 draw, registering an assist for Joe Rodon’s goal before scoring one himself to put Leeds in the lead.
Leeds will be kicking themselves after conceding a late equaliser, but they still earned a valuable point to add to their impressive start to the season.
Daniel Farke’s side hardly look like a team that will be battling against relegation this season. They have eight points from their opening six games in the Premier League, leaving them well clear of the bottom three.

Sean Longstaff shows both sides to his game against Bournemouth
Longstaff has been a dominant force, alongside Ethan Amapdu and Anton Stach in Leeds’ midfield this season.
The trio has helped Leeds to dominate midfield battles in many of their Premier League games this season.
Longstaff enjoyed his best game in a Leeds shirt on Saturday though, and not only for his goal contributions. The former Newcastle star put in a great defensive performance as well, winning the ball back countless times for his team.
Data from Opta reveals that Longstaff creates seven chances for Leeds against Bournemouth, while winning 10 duels. No Leeds player has managed both of these achievements in a single game, since Opta began collecting this data.

Sean Longstaff shows his Premier League quality against Bournemouth
Farke says that Longstaff has emerged as a leader in the Leeds dressing room, despite him only arriving at Elland Road this summer.
The 27-year-old has certainly been leading by example on the pitch with his all-action displays. His performances alongside Stach and Amapadu have provided the foundation for Leeds’ bright start to the Premier League.
Longstaff regularly showed that he was capable of dominant midfield performances while he was at Newcastle.
He has always shown:
- fantastic workrate
- great intelligence on the ball
- the ability to pop up with an important goal.
Even so, he found himself too far down the pecking order during his final years at the club. Newcastle chiefs might already be regretting letting him go for just £12million, considering how well he has done at Elland Road.
