Sean Longstaff benched – Confirmed Leeds starting XI v Man United
Leeds United supporters can finally watch their team again after lifting the Championship title last season.
Daniel Farke’s side face Man United at 2pm today (19 July) in Sweden and will don their brand new blue away strip for the contest.
The clash between the two rivals will take place at Stockholm’s Strawberry Arena, with almost all of the 50,000 seats expected to be filled.
Sean Longstaff became Leeds’ latest signing, joining the Peacocks from Newcastle United for a reported £12million plus add-ons.

Jaka Bijol and Lukas Nmecha start as Leeds United face Man United
Several new signings have been made ahead of the new season, with Jaka Bijol, Lukas Nmecha, and Gabriel Gudmundsson among the Leeds arrivals.
While Bijol will not feature in the Premier League opener against Everton, he will face the Red Devils in Sweden.
The two teams have played against each other in Scandinavia before, having met during pre-season in Norway in 2015 and 2023.
Date | Score |
8 February 2023 | Man United 2-2 Leeds |
12 February 2023 | Leeds 0-2 Man United |
Now, they are to resume their famous rivalry in a pre-season friendly, if you can call it that.
Bijol and Nmecha are the only two new signings to feature for Farke, who will start a host of familiar players.
Karl Darlow and Sam Byram are intriguing picks for the German as Willy Gnonto and Jack Harrison are both given the nod.
Several new recruits can be found on the Leeds bench, however, with Gabriel Gudmundsson, Sebastiaan Bornauw, and Longstaff named as substitutes.
Leeds fans to watch their new signings in action
It feels like it has been a long time coming, but Leeds supporters can finally watch their beloved team in action.
Of course, only a couple of new signings will start, but Longstaff and co are poised to make an appearance from the bench.
Farke will certainly use this match as a test for his team against a United side who are unpredictable at the moment.
While a win would be just the tonic, it is all about fitness at this stage of pre-season.
However, every match is worth winning, and it would be some narrative if the Peacocks downed Ruben Amorim’s men.
