Sam Byram squad decision made for Leeds United v Southampton at Wembley
Sam Byram has been included in the Leeds United matchday squad to face Southampton in the Championship play-off final, according to Leeds Live.
The online outlet shared news of Leeds’ 22-man group ahead of Sunday’s (26 May) clash at Wembley as both teams seek an instant return to the Premier League.
Byram was considered doubtful for the match after missing the second leg of the semi-final win over Norwich City, but Daniel Farke confirmed earlier in the week that he was back in training.
It means Farke has near enough a fully-fit squad to choose from, with Patrick Bamford and Pascal Struijk the only notable absentees.
Leeds United XI v Southampton must be spot on
Having Byram back available gives Farke more options to choose from and that could well be the biggest selection decision the German makes.
In the first leg against Norwich, Byram started at right-back, with Archie Gray moving into a more advanced central midfield position.
In the full-back’s absence for the second leg – an emphatic victory at Elland Road – Gray moved back into defence and that worked well.
It therefore seems likely Farke will stick with a winning formula by going with Gray at right-back and Rutter in the number 10 position.
What Byram’s return does do, though, is give Farke an opportunity to change things around in-game – whether Leeds are winning or trailing.

Everyone is expecting a very tense match in the capital, so every tactical change made will be massively scrutinised.
Whatever team Farke names come 2pm, let’s hope the players can get the job done and make it a day to remember.
