‘Ruining careers’ – Many Leeds fans in awe of ‘unreal footballing god’ in demolition job v Stoke
After a night of reflection, we’ve come to the conclusion that the Leeds United display against Stoke was the best we’ve seen – certainly the second 45 minutes.
Pablo Hernandez was the game-changer, coming on in the second half with the score at 1-0 and leaving it as man-of-the-match and with Stoke battered 5-0.
He wasn’t the only brilliant player on the pitch. Patrick Bamford – much criticised by the fans this season – was on top of his game.
He didn’t give the Stoke defenders a minute’s rest. He should have scored two but he got one and the Leeds fans were absolutely delighted for him.
He also proved he’s Team Leeds not Team Bamford when he allowed a ball to pass under his feet and into the path of Hernandez, who stroked it into the net for the fourth of the night.
This was an absolute masterclass from Hernandez, though.
He’s being carefully managed by Marcelo Bielsa during the run-in, and it might be that’s the way forward for the 35-year-old.
However, on this sort of form, he only needs 45 minutes to make his mark on the game. In fact, one fan said that it was basically a “cheat” bringing him on while Leeds were winning.
Here are the best reactions from excited Leeds fans, who know they’re just seven points away from the Premier League…
