Rio Ferdinand shares Leeds chat with Andrea Radrizzani over Marcelo Bielsa
Marcelo Bielsa has divulged a conversation with Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani who waxed lyrical about Marcelo Bielsa once again.
Bielsa has inscribed himself into Whites folklore since his appointment as manager in 2018, masterminding promotion to the Premier League last year and following that up with a top-10 tilt this season.
A 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday pushed Leeds into ninth position with three games remaining, just four points behind reigning Premier League champions Liverpool.
Speaking on BT Sport’s coverage [11:30, 08/05/21] of the clash with Spurs ex-Whites defender Ferdinand detailed a chat with Radrizzani over El Loco.
“I’ve spoken to the chairman here,” he said.
“They love him man, they love the way he works, even the dinner ladies at the training ground love him.
“He’s got that character that draws people in and he does things differently, but you see the results and he’s a breath of fresh air to this team.”
Leeds love-in continues
You’d do well to find anyone related to the club that doesn’t have a good word to say about Bielsa.
He’s probably the most popular man in West Yorkshire after a sensational few years at the helm.
It’s not just results that have bought him so much admiration, but the way the team have played under his stewardship and the humility that surrounds him despite continued success.
In a league full of imposing and fractious figures, Bielsa rises above them all as the most humble manager, unfazed by everything around him.
He’s loved by everyone inside the club as well as the fans and it’s been the perfect marriage so far.
Owners and managers don’t always see eye to eye but it sounds like Radrizzani takes every opportunity he can to wax lyrical about Bielsa’s abilities on and off the field.
We hear stories every week about Bielsa but we never get bored of them, let’s hope they keep on coming for many years yet.
