Raphinha was not in isolation and trained with Leeds United team

Leeds United attacker Raphinha was not isolating on Wednesday, suggesting that he has recovered from his illness, according to Beren Cross.

The Brazilian was not even on the bench for the weekend loss to Tottenham Hotspur and it was later revealed that he was out due to illness.

It led to many believing that he could have been out with COVID, but as it turns out, it was something minor and nothing that would keep him out of the Brighton clash.

Cross wrote on his Q&A for LeedsLive, “I don’t believe it’s Covid, no. And the pictures from training today would suggest he hasn’t needed to go into isolation etc. We were led to believe it was just a minor illness that would not keep him out of the Brighton game.”

Relief

From what Cross is saying, Raphinha appears to have trained with the Leeds squad which is a good sign.

Even if he had a viral or was infectious, the advice would have been to stay away.

But the fact that he was part of the group suggests that it was a minor thing that kept him out of the Spurs clash and that he’s ready to face the Seagulls.

His absence was dearly felt in the last game, but it gave the likes of Jack Harrison and Daniel James to combine for the opener.

The duo have been maligned to a great extent this season and it was a good way to silence the critics.

What Raphinha’s availability does to the side, remains to be seen, but we cannot rule out all three starting against Brighton.

Marcelo Bielsa has played that system in the past and could do so again this weekend.
