Raphinha loses it and confronts Leeds United fans as video emerges from loss v Chelsea

Raphinha lost his patience with a set of Leeds United fans on Wednesday night (11 May) as they needlessly held up play against Chelsea.

Despite the Whites needing to win and trailing against Chelsea at Elland Road, one Leeds fan decided they would keep the ball after it went out of play for a throw-in.

Twitter user ADEL has uploaded a video clip of the incident, which shows clear footage of Marcos Alonso laughing at the Leeds fans before Raphinha comes over to plead with them to give the ball back.

While this wasn’t the reason we lost the game, the last thing we fans need to be doing is annoying the players.

Raphinha might not be in the best of form right now but you can see how frustrated he is with everything that’s going on at Elland Road.

He doesn’t want to be in a relegation battle, he’s Brazil’s starting winger for crying out loud.

You cannot blame him at all for confronting the Leeds fans about this incident, which did eventually lead to the ball being thrown back into play.

If we were a goal ahead or even trying to cling on to a point, that would have been a smart thing to do.

But everything about this is just dumb and you can hear the frustration from fellow Leeds supporters about this individual holding up play and wasting time to Leeds’ detriment.

You can understand why Chelsea’s Alonso was laughing about it – it benefitted him.

Raphinha eventually went off with what could have been an injury but Jesse Marsch may have just been trying to keep him fresh for the clash against Brighton this weekend.

Let’s cross our fingers that he’s okay for that game.

In other Leeds United news, Gary Linker is stunned by this “incredible” thing he noticed about the Whites on Match of the Day on Wednesday night.
