Prutton predicts Barnsley v Leeds

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted that Leeds will get back to winning ways on Sunday when they travel to Barnsley in the Championship.

However, he’s not expecting an easy ride for Marcelo Bielsa’s men despite Barnsley sitting just above the relegation zone.

Writing in his regular column on Sky, Prutton said, “Barnsley are struggling a little and Daniel Stendel would have been glad to have had a fortnight to try and work with his side. The prospect of a big local derby should help his squad raise their game, too.

“Leeds have also had a fortnight to dwell on their home defeat to Swansea. They dominated for so long in that one, but that does happen in the game and Marcelo Bielsa won’t be worried. They should bounce back with a win here.”

Prutton thinks Leeds will win 1-0.

Leeds did the double over their local rivals last season, winning 2-0 away from home and 2-1 at Elland Road.

Leeds have been doing better away from home this season, where teams aren’t set up to stifle so much.

They’ve scored three (Bristol City), two (Wigan) and three (Stoke) in their three away games and haven’t scored more than a single goal in one game at Elland Road this season.

That’s a problem for Bielsa to crack another day, though. Getting the three points on Sunday and hopefully going back to the top of the league is the next step.
