Premier League announce when Leeds United 20/21 fixtures will be released
Leeds United are back in the Premier League for the first time in 16 years and fans are understandably excited to see who they’re playing first.
They won’t have to wait long. The Premier League announced today that the full fixture list will be released no later than next Friday, August 21.
The first round of fixtures will play out on Saturday, September 12, and will end on Sunday, May 23.
The news was posted on the official Premier League Twitter account on Thursday lunchtime.
Now it’s getting real
It’s taken so long for Leeds to get back in the Premier League that it’s going to be really surreal seeing the fixture list. And obviously very exciting, too.
We’re torn between wanting a real blockbuster tie like a Liverpool or even Man United (imagine) and getting an easier introduction back to the top-flight.
The only sad thing is that Leeds fans won’t be there – for the first few months of fixtures at least.
We’re less confident about fans coming back in 2020 now after issues in Scotland have seen some fixtures postponed.
It doesn’t seem like Coronavirus is going away any time soon and a vaccine is seemingly no closer.
This is the new normal, though, and we’ve got used to watching Leeds play without fans.
Not all Leeds games will be available to watch, though, and that is an even bigger blow to fans.
Being in the Premier League is the big thing though.
