MOT View: Bielsa to make major change after YEP update – Predicted Leeds starting XI v Fulham
The game all Leeds United fans have been waiting for is almost here. Leeds fans were getting excited about the Fulham game before lockdown until it was cruelly snatched from us.
Now we’re just three days away from the huge clash at Elland Road and although there won’t be any fans there, anticipation among fans is reaching fever pitch.
There’s no overstating how much a win would mean to Leeds and their bid for promotion. A draw wouldn’t be a terrible result but three points would be huge.
Fitness news on Pablo Hernandez is good. He’s back in training for Leeds on Wednesday and Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth has said he’d “put money on him being involved”.
Will he make the starting XI or just the bench?
It’s a very minor issue apparently so we think he goes straight back in. Leeds need their strongest XI out for the game and that’s a side with Hernandez in the no.10 role.
Tyler Roberts is the man who’ll drop to the bench and we’re expecting the rest of the side to be as it was for Cardiff.
Fulham play one up front – and Liam Cooper and Ben White will have to be at their best to keep Aleksandar Mitrovic out – and that means Bielsa can play his preferred 4-1-4-1 formation.
Some fans want Patrick Bamford to be dropped but unless he picks up an injury in the next few days, or tests positive for Coronavirus, he’ll be starting.
Bielsa doesn’t do changes and he’s not going to start in such a massive game.
It means he’ll have both Roberts and Ian Poveda as impact players off the bench, which gives us more options than we had against Cardiff.
We think this starting XI will have too much for Fulham, who play a style that could play right into our hands.
