Plenty of Leeds fans want fringe player who scored v Hull last season to start at the KCOM

The debate about Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has been raging all season.

On one side you’ve got his goal-scoring stats. 12 in 35 games isn’t good enough and he’s only scored in one of his last 10 games.

On the other, you’ve got the slightly more nebulous argument that he offers a lot more to the side than just goals.

In the first half of the season, plenty of Leeds fans were calling for Eddie Nketiah to start. And they’ll feel vindicated in that view now they’ve seen him lining up and scoring for Arsenal in the Premier League.

Since the January window has closed some fans have been calling for Jean-Kevin Augustin to start up front.

However, he’s now picked up a hamstring injury, despite not starting for Leeds, and he’s been ruled out of the game on Saturday against Hull.

There is another option, though. Tyler Roberts is fit and he’s played up front for Leeds before.

He’s only made four starts this season and has only played 66 minutes of first-team football since November.

However, he scored three goals in 10 appearances playing as a striker for Leeds last season, including two against Preston and one against Saturday’s opponents Hull at the KCOM Stadium.

Most of the fans are talking about Bamford losing his confidence and that taking him out of the firing line would be good for him.

However, some think Roberts could play with Bamford, with one saying Pablo Hernandez needs a rest after already playing two games this week.

Here are a selection of fans who want to see Roberts in the starting XI on Saturday…
