Phil Hay: Patrick Bamford likely to miss out again for Leeds United v Brighton

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford is likely to be missing once again from the Leeds United squad to take on Brighton on Saturday, according to Phil Hay.

The Athletic journalist shared that after speaking with Jesse Marsch, it was probable that the England international won’t be at the AMEX later today.

Big changes aren’t expected for the Whites from last week, who go into this on the back of a huge win against Chelsea in the Premier League.

Writing in his pre-match Q&A for The Athletic, Hay shared what to expect from the team news as we quickly approach kick-off later on Saturday.

“In some ways, a win at The Amex would almost be more of a statement than beating Chelsea last weekend,” he wrote.

“We’re not expecting many changes today and the way Jesse Marsch spoke on Thursday suggested that Patrick Bamford will be missing again.”

Here we go again.

Only four games into the new season and Bamford has already missed 50% of our pictures.

This only reiterates the point that Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani need to pull their fingers out and get a deal for a new striker over the line before Thursday [01 September].

It makes a lot more sense that Leeds have now been strongly linked with Wolves striker Hwang Hee-Chan, with a late move surely on the cards.

We expect the exact same starting XI from that win over Chelsea, with Rodrigo set to lead the line and Joe Gelhardt in support off the bench if needed.

Although starting the season on fire, we can’t rely on those two all season and a half-fit Bamford throughout, so bringing in that extra man, in this case, Hwang would be perfect.

The South Korean can play as a number nine and in the three behind the striker, so that versatility could be key, could Bamford missing out today be the last straw? We hope so.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites now want to sign this striker with a rival set to kickstart a major £30million+ transfer battle
