Phil Hay expects Leeds United duo Raphinha and Jack Harrison to miss Fulham League Cup tie
Phil Hay expects Leeds United wingers Raphinha and Jack Harrison to miss out on Tuesday night’s League Cup clash at Fulham.
Harrison was absent from the Leeds travelling party for their trip to Newcastle United last week after testing positive for COVID-19, while Raphinha was spotted with ice strapped to his thigh/groin by LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross, after the Brazilian was substituted in the 1-1 draw against the Magpies.
Writing on The Athletic’s pre-match discussion page before their tie with Fulham, Hay believes both are set to sit out tonight.
“It’ll be a surprise if Raphinha plays any part given that he finished that game with ice strapped to his leg,” Hay said.
“We’re not expecting Diego Llorente, Robin Koch or Jack Harrison to feature either and Pascal Struijk serves the second game of his three-match ban.”
Summerville set to start?
Regardless of injuries or COVID issues, the chances of both Raphinha and Harrison starting tonight may have been rather slim anyway.
Raphinha was absent from the squad that beat Crewe Alexandra in the previous round last month as Harrison starred alone, scoring two late goals to help the Whites win 3-0 at Elland Road.
Helder Costa started that game in August, but he has since sealed a switch to Valencia.
That should hand an opportunity for teenage sensation Crysencio Summerville, who has shone for the Under-23s over the past year.
He could be joined by deadline day signing Dan James as Marcelo Bielsa looks to get him up to speed with the way the Whites work, after he made his first start last week.
