Phil Hay delivers Twitter update on Kalvin Phillips after injury in 1-0 v Reading

It was another massive three points for Leeds United today but another 1-0 victory that will have left fans without fingernails.

It all started off horribly at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

Kalvin Phillips – so vital to the promotion charge – went down injured after about 30 minutes of the game.

He got up and tried to carry on but was obviously struggling and eventually had to come off, hobbling straight down the tunnel.

He was a huge miss when he was suspended for three games after a red card in the game against QPR and he’s been an inspiration on his return.

An injury that would see him miss any games would be a disaster but Athletic journalist Phil Hay delivered an update after the game that will delight Leeds fans.

He said that Phillips was back on the pitch at full-time and “walking about quite happily which is a very good sign”.

More good news came from BBC journalist Adam Pope who quoted Marcelo Bielsa after the game as saying “Phillips took a kick but at this stage it does not look serious”.

The win gives Leeds their valuable buffer to third place back again.

Results mainly went their way, although West Brom won at the top to maintain their four-point lead.

However, a five-point gap back to third is the all-important stat after Fulham had drawn level on points two games ago.

A defeat and a draw in their last two have seen their charge falter and six points from Leeds have given fans real belief again.
