Phil Hay claims Leeds player may have suffered bad injury v Sheff Weds
Leeds United lost 2-0 to Sheffield Wednesday in a hugely disappointing game at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
And it could get much worse with Stuart Dallas ending the game with what Athletic journalist Phil Hay has said looks like a “bad injury”.
It’s one win in seven now and it means the gap back to Brentford in third is just six points now. If Nottingham Forest win their game in hand that will be five.
Lack of attacking options was a problem today with no recognised striker on the bench. Marcelo Bielsa has ignored calls to give Ryan Edmondson a chance but surely he’d have been better than no one?
That’s not the only issue though and Leeds should have at least been able to secure a 0-0 draw today. The defence has gone to pot after a brilliant start to the season at the back.
There could be bigger repercussions from today’s game, though.
Dallas, one of the stars of the season so far, was injured late on in the game but Biesla has used all three substitutes and the Leeds star decided to play on.
He couldn’t run though and we’re really hoping that he hasn’t made his injury even worse.
Talking in a Q&A after the game, Hay said, “Looked like Dallas picked up a bad injury today too.”
Talking after the game Bielsa said, “I don’t know what is wrong but he’s a tough player, a strong player.”
Dallas was a revelation at right-back earlier in the season but hasn’t been anywhere near as effective in a midfield role in recent weeks.
However, the last thing Leeds need is to lose more players in the middle of the park, with Adam Forshaw still struggling to recover from a hip injury.
All in all, it was a really bad afternoon that’s got Leeds fans fearing the worst again.
