Paul Robinson heaps praise on ‘hugely improved’ Leeds ace in Premier League
Paul Robinson has heaped praise on the “hugely improved” Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford in the Premier League.
Marcelo Bielsa has stuck by the former Middlesbrough man, and he has been repaid, with the forward finding the back of the net five times.
Bamford has had his fair share of critics over the past year with the Whites but is relishing the opportunity to keep them quiet each week.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ live coverage of the game, Robinson believes that others do need to step up and help the forward more often.
“He’s massively improved,” he said.
“Patrick’s had his critics, his goal conversion to chances created was nowhere near what it should have been, and at times, it cost Leeds.
“He’s hugely improved this year, his conversion rate has gone up. The burden doesn’t have to lie on Patrick Bamford, others will be creating and having those chances as well.
“They’re playing in, what was inevitably, a Championship team.”
It is a great point that Robinson is making.
Most of the players that started against Burnley were at the club when Bielsa first arrived at Elland Road, and are tackling the top-flight head on.
Bamford is mixing it with the best in the goalscoring charts, scoring more than Sadio Mane, Marcus Rashford and the same as Harry Kane.
The Whites talisman also has a better shot accuracy than the England captain and is proving his worth more-and-more as each week passes.
