Paul Merson predicts Leeds clash v Manchester United
Paul Merson has backed Manchester United to beat Leeds United in their Premier League opener this afternoon.
The Whites travel to Old Trafford looking for revenge after that 6-2 defeat last season, this time with the travelling faithful behind them.
Merson doesn’t expect that to change much, and has predicted that it will finish 3-1 to the home side this time around.

Speaking to Sportskeeda on their website, Merson predicted more fireworks at Old Trafford this afternoon.
“Oh wow, what a game,” he said. “I remember this game last year.
“It’s a massive game and there is a rich history between the two sides, so this is the kind of Premier League game that will really benefit from having the fans back at stadiums.
“I expect Manchester United to win, as the way Leeds go on the front foot and attempt to open games up plays into their hands.”
Bring it on.
Leeds often start the season under Marcelo Bielsa relentlessly, and will our fierce rivals be able to handle that?
Liverpool were the Premier League champions with one of the best defensive records behind them when we rocked up to Anfield, and without two dubious penalties, we would have left with three goals and three points.
The difference now is that El Loco and his side know what it takes to succeed at this level, and proved that at Manchester City towards the end of last season.
Should we defend as well as we did there with 10-men, United shouldn’t be able to handle the relentless nature of our counter-attack.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spent big though, and this will still be a huge task – bring it on.
