Patrick Bamford out: Confirmed Leeds United team news v Chelsea
Jesse Marsch has confirmed his Leeds United team news for the Premier League showdown against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon at Elland Road.
The American has shared that Patrick Bamford may be doubtful and a decision will be made tomorrow after the groin issue he picked up during the 2-2 draw against Southampton.
Joe Gelhardt is ready to return but Liam Cooper is another who a late decision will be made on with all three back in training at Thorp Arch – Luke Ayling, Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas are all out.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference live on YouTube, Marsch shared the latest news from his squad ahead of the crunch clash with the Londoners.
“Luke and Junior are looking really strong and getting better every day but not ready for Chelsea,” he said. “Coops has been on the pitch, him and Pat too so they’re a little day-to-day so we’ll have to see how that factors in for Chelsea.
“Joffy is back in training and ready to go.”
Here We Go Again.
Bamford is no longer reliable for a full 38-game season, and it is heartbreaking to see.
It does show us, and hopefully Andrea Radrizzani that we are crying out for another new striker before the window slams shut in less than two weeks’ time.
Gelhardt has also had his issues so it could easily happen that we don’t have a central striker available at all, something that cost us dearly last season.
Marsch will know that, so bringing in another striker will be critical.
With the squad slowly getting back to full fitness though, our bench is looking better, and hopefully, Marsch can use that much better than last week if we need it at Elland Road.
Chelsea will be our biggest test yet, and the main issue to resolve will be out wide, not just who will lead the line, all eyes are on the dugout and Marsch already.
