Patrick Bamford nowhere to be seen as Djed Spence benched again – Confirmed Leeds United XI v Blackburn Rovers

Leeds United have named an unchanged team to face Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, but Patrick Bamford is nowhere to be seen.

Archie Gray continues at right-back with Djed Spence named on the bench once more, but Bamford misses out on the squad entirely with Joseph Gelhardt and Mateo Joseph named on the bench.

As expected Luke Ayling misses out through injury, while Crysencio Sumerville and Sam Byram are fit enough to start.

Momentum

This period of football right now is incredibly busy, and Leeds will know that with back-to-back away games that are due to be tough they have to get off to a good start.

Farke has had the rub of the green with injuries in recent months and that has led to plenty of excellent performances and a fantastic run of form to push the team right into the conversation for the automatic promotion places.

There will come a time where some big players need to be rested, but we have the squad depth to do exactly that and it’s important to choose the right time to do it.

Leeds United

We can’t afford to lose groups of players at once, but at some point Djed Spence needs to get some games and Archie Gray needs a rest while Bamford’s Leeds future looks bleak now.

It’s an exciting chance for Mateo Joseph from the bench however, but a win is the most important thing and that’s what we need from this game.
