Patrick Bamford ‘frustrated’ at Leeds United after what happened in loss v Millwall
Patrick Bamford will have been “frustrated” at Leeds United after recent developments at Elland Road, according to Gary Rowett.
The Englishman was a second-half substitute as the Whites were beaten 1-0 by Millwall at The Den on Wednesday (6 November) with Japhet Tanganga’s goal ultimately the difference between the two sides.
Bamford is yet to start any of the Whites’ first 14 Championship matches of the season and Sky Sports pundit Rowett believes he will have been frustrated to slip down Daniel Farke’s pecking order this season.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Wednesday (6 November, 21:23) he said: “He’s hardly played has he?
“He must have been frustrated in general because he’s got about five or six players ahead of him at the moment in this Leeds squad.”
What has happened to Leeds United ace Patrick Bamford at Elland Road?
It is easy to forget just how integral Bamford was to this Leeds United side in the second half of last season.
The former England international’s goals pretty much kept the Whites within touching distance of the automatic promotion places and while he couldn’t fire them back to the Premier League, he was missed during the playoff campaign.
But thanks to the emergence of Mateo Joseph and the recent good form of Joel Piroe, he has become little more than a last resort so far this season, only being thrown on in matches where Leeds are desperate for a goal.

Although that can often happen to forwards as they get older, Bamford is unlikely to be relishing this new-look role, particularly when he barely sees any of the ball as was the case against Millwall on Wednesday.
It wouldn’t be a shock if the 33-year-old looked to move away from Elland Road when January rolls around as he could still be a real asset for a club a bit further down the Championship table.
