Patrick Bamford has been blasted for a wasted cross into the box late on as Leeds United were held to a 0-0 draw by West Brom.

BBC Radio WM commentator Steve Hermon slammed Bamford, 30, after the striker had time to put a good ball into Willy Gnonto in the late stages of the Championship game at The Hawthorns.

Speaking on BBC Radio WM (17 August, 02:22pm), Hermon dubbed the Leeds player's cross as "awful" as it was easily collected by goalkeeper Alex Palmer.

West Brom legend Tony Brown then said: "His teammates are not very happy there because there were two of them running in there and it could have been dangerous."

Patrick Bamford lets Leeds United down again

It's been pretty obvious for a few years now that the striker isn't what he used to be with fans able to count on one hand how many good games the ex-Chelsea man has had since winning his one and only England cap in September 2021.

Neither team really had a clear-cut chance at The Hawthorns this weekend but Leeds would have done late on if Bamford was able to put a half-decent cross into the box for his teammates to prey on.

Instead, Palmer was handed the chance to collect the ball without any trouble.

Leeds are now without a win in three games to start this season. New signings are absolutely needed.
