Patrick Bamford and Charlie Cresswell update emerges ahead of Leeds United vs Plymouth Argyle kick-off amid ‘question marks’

Both of Patrick Bamford and Charlie Cresswell are with the Leeds United squad ahead of the game against Plymouth Argyle amid doubts over their fitness, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported via Twitter on 11 November from Elland Road that the two Whites men were present and correct, after Daniel Farke revealed that both had missed training this week.

The German had said illness for the striker and the personal reasons for the defender had kept them out at Thorp Arch making them “question marks” for the game.

That meant they may have joined Pascal Struijk, Djed Spence, Joe Gelhardt, Jamie Shackleton and Stuart Dallas as unavailable, but they appear to be incontention.

Boost

After such an encouraging victory away at Leicester City last week this is an ideal opportunity for Farke to maintain momentum into another international break.

In terms of form the manager likely won’t welcome the interruption to the league season but with an injury list that is starting to grow it might have a decent silver lining.

Bamford and Cresswell are not part of the key starting XI of late but the Whites are sure to need options, with Cresswell moving up a spot in the rotation after Struijk’s hernia surgery.

Leeds United

With so many players performing so strongly in this Leeds United sides the players on the periphery of the squad have had a difficult time feeding on scraps, or in Cresswell’s case on nothing at all.

But the season is a long slog at this level and Farke is bound to need to utilise players who haven’t seen much action lately.

It is a positive boost that he has the English pair available this weekend, and both might get a look in off the bench as a result.

In other Leeds United news, an “important” January transfer update has been confirmed now at a key position.
