‘Pathetic’, ‘Woeful’, ‘Dire’ – Many Leeds fans savage ‘Awful’ player at HT v Everton
Leeds United went into their Premier League clash against Everton on Wednesday evening looking to make it three wins in-a-row.
Marcelo Bielsa was forced into one change at Elland Road, with Mateusz Klich replacing the injured Rodrigo in the playmaker role.
It was good news regarding Raphinha and Patrick Bamford who both shook off knocks from the Leicester game to start against the Toffees.
It didn’t start well though, with Everton going ahead inside 10 minutes.
Lucas Digne got in-behind down the left and a low ball drilled across the box was guided home by Gylfi Sigurdsson, who left Liam Cooper stranded.
The Leeds captain often divides opinion at Elland Road, and unfortunately, he was slated for his role in the opening goals.
Cooper was immense against Leicester, but his slack marking and communication with Pascal Struijk really cost the Whites at the start of this game.
No one has averaged more interceptions per game in the Leeds squad than Cooper according to WhoScored, but he must start getting these mistakes out of his game.
Many Leeds fans reacted to the first-half performance of Cooper, and it is fair to say that they were not happy with what they saw from the Scottish international.
The majority singled out his defending for the opening goal, labelling his efforts as “woeful” in the middle of his own area.
