‘Out of his depth’, ‘Not PL sad to say’ – Some Leeds fans think one player was exposed v Sheff U

Leeds United attacker Tyler Roberts got his chance to shine with his first Premier League start at Bramall Lane.

However, he was virtually anonymous in the first half and was taken off at half-time by Marcelo Bielsa, with Rodrigo coming on to replace him.

That was the complete opposite of what happened last week when Rodrigo started against Fulham but was subbed at half-time in favour of Roberts.

It shows that Leeds have a problem when Pablo Hernandez isn’t fit and suggests more cover in the number 10 position is needed before the window shuts.

Some fans questioned whether Roberts is good enough for the Premier League, with one saying, “Feel for Roberts out of position and, unfortunately, I think out of his depth in this league.”

That’s a somewhat harsh assessment on a player who hasn’t had a regular run in the side yet and is still only 21.

We think he’s got time to fulfil his potential after arriving from West Brom.

However, if he would prefer to start further forward then he’s really going to struggle for game time with Patrick Bamford playing well up-front and Rodrigo second in line behind him.

Rodrigo changed the shape of the game in the second half, with the Whites going on to record a massive victory, and when he really hits his stride he’s going to be a regular starter for Leeds.

And then, Roberts might have to make do with looking to make an impact from the bench.

Here are the best reactions to Roberts’ display from Leeds fans…
