Nketiah the answer to Leeds' problem

Marcelo Bielsa revealed what the problem is with his Leeds side this season.

Talking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, he said that it was taking Leeds six chances to score, compared to 4-5 last season.

That’s a worry when you think that Leeds scored 20 fewer goals than champions Norwich last season, and less than Sheffield United (second), West Brom (fourth) and Aston Villa (fifth).

It would be unfair to blame it all on one player, especially one who’s scored four goals and is the club’s top-scorer, but Patrick Bamford has an issue that he needs to address.

As illustrated by the All Stats Aren’t We Twitter account, Bamford is only getting 27.8% of his shots on target in the Championship. [WyScout]

Compare that to Eddie Nketiah and Aleksandar Mitrovic, who are both averaging 50% of their shots on target.

Nketiah is averaging two more shots on goal per 90 minutes, too, although that’s from a small sample size.

We’d like to see Nketiah start on Saturday and give Bamford a chance to refresh himself from the bench.

Leeds need to convert more of their chances and we think Nketiah is the man to get the average up.
