MOT View: Striker injury on Sat means another player off the transfer shortlist for Leeds
Leeds United have a shortlist of strikers they want to sign in January, headed by Southampton’s Che Adams.
Dwight Gayle is another name that Leeds have been linked with, with the news that Newcastle would have been ready to let him out on loan this January.
However, any move for Gayle by either Leeds or indeed West Brom has been blown out of the water after he limped out of the game against Wolves on Saturday afternoon with a recurrence of his hamstring injury.
Gayle was given a rare start by injury-hit Newcastle today and incredibly Steve Bruce’s side lost another two players in the first half of the game today.
Paul Dummett was first, followed by Gayle, who left the pitch clutching his thigh. That comes after he missed the first seven games of the season through injury.
There’s been no word on how severe the injury is but even if he’s not out for an extended period, Leeds will surely cross his name out regardless.
