Leeds United will play Portuguese side Paços de Ferreira in a pre-season friendly at Thorp Arch on Saturday.
That’s been reported by Portuguese outlet Renascenca who have said that the game will be behind closed doors with a 1pm kick-off.
Unless something happens quickly it will be Leeds’ second pre-season friendly after they got off to an inauspicious start with a 3-0 defeat to Championship side Stoke earlier this week.
Paços de Ferreira play in the top-flight in Portugal and finished 13th out of 18 clubs in Liga Nos last season.
Leeds fans had to put up with Twitter updates and extended highlights from the Stoke game but this match should be different.
As it’s at Thorp Arch, Leeds will control the media and we are fairly sure they’ll stream the game live on LUTV.
Some fans weren’t too happy after the 3-0 loss to Stoke but there are plenty of Leeds first-team players out on international duty.
Liam Cooper, Gjanni Alioski, Kalvin Phillips, Stuart Dallas, Mateusz Klich, Illan Meslier and Alfie McCalmont are all away.
Tyler Roberts was withdrawn from the Wales squad but made a surprise cameo against Stoke and could feature again on Saturday.
And it’s important to remember that these are pre-season friendlies where the Leeds players will be following instructions carefully from Bielsa and his staff.
Match fitness is the goal in these games not winning and we’re more interested in seeing the Leeds players in action than the result.
