Sevilla defender Jules Kounde is the latest France Under-21 international to test positive for Covid-19 and there now has to be real concern for Leeds United keeper Illan Meslier.
Sevilla tweeted the news about Kounde on Thursday night and he’s just the latest player to test positive from the France Under-21 camp.
Kounde played in the 1-0 victory for the France Under-21s on Monday night. Illan Meslier was an unused substitute.

The news about Kounde comes after Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard tested positive while on international duty.
After the news about Kounde, Get French Football News tweeted, “Clear now that there was an outbreak in the France U21s squad: Caqueret, Guendouzi, Koundé…”

We’ve constantly said that this round of internationals shouldn’t have been played.
Why risk taking players out of their bubbles to travel around Europe and risk infection, let alone injury, with fixtures packed in like sardines?
Meslier is the only senior goalkeeper that Leeds have available at the moment, with Kiko Casilla still out with injury as far as we know.
If anything was to happen to Meslier it could mean Elia Caprile taking the gloves against Wolves if Casilla is still out – we should find out more about his injury in Bielsa’s pre-match press conference.
It shows the lack of depth in that position for Leeds and MOT Leeds News columnist Paul Robinson has been telling us all summer that the club should have brought in another experienced head.
Hopefully, Meslier will be fine – and we imagine the player will have been tested since his return – but with the prior focus on Wolves and their players after Cristiano Ronaldo tested positive from the Portugal camp, this shines the Covid spotlight onto Leeds.
We think playing these internationals was wholly irresponsible and we hope that Leeds don’t become major victims.
