MOT View: Bielsa to make 9 changes with duo making debuts - Predicted Leeds XI v Hull

Leeds United start their Carabao Cup campaign on Wednesday evening when they welcome Hull City to Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa is expected to make a number of changes from the side which fell to a 4-3 defeat against Liverpool in their Premier League opener on Saturday.

Writing on the Athletic app, Phil Hay has claimed that Ian Poveda is one player expected to start against our Yorkshire rivals in the second round tie.

We expect a considerable amount of changes at Elland Road, with a number of youngsters set to come into the Whites side.

Much against what many believe, Kiko Casilla should be given the chance for 90 minutes against the Tigers giving Illan Meslier a rest for the clash.

The under-23s line-up on Monday against Stoke gave us a clue that the defence could be very young, with the likes of Charlie Cresswell missing after training with the first-team.

We expect Barry Douglas to join Luke Ayling and Pascal Struijk in completing the defence, with those two the only duo to keep their spots from Saturday.

There should be wholesale changes in midfield, with Oliver Casey set to partner Jamie Shackleton in place of Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich.

Then the attacking three in behind the forward could be Poveda, Tyler Roberts and Ezgjan Alioski – the trio all on the bench at Anfield previously.

Now for the best part. We expect club-record signing Rodrigo to be given his first start against Hull, as he looks to avenge his clumsy tackle which gave Liverpool all three points on Saturday.

This is the side we expect Bielsa to field at 7:45 pm on Wednesday.
