Leeds United stars Jack Harrison and Helder Costa are both brilliant wingers on their day but that day wasn’t last Friday.
Leeds fans urged Marcelo Bielsa to take Harrison off at half-time after his worst 45 minutes of the season against West Ham.
He obliged but Costa was even worse in the second 45 and gave away the needless free-kick that saw West Ham net the winner.
It’s time for a change.
Let Harrison and Costa sit on the bench tonight and rest up for the game against Man United on Sunday.
Leeds have a wealth of attacking talent in their squad and it’s time to use it.
We’d love to see Pablo Hernandez and Rodrigo start, with Raphinha on the left, but we can’t see Bielsa doing it. It seems too radical for a manager who doesn’t do much change.
If he doesn’t, we think Bielsa has to give 20-year-old Ian Poveda his first Premier League start after some impactful displays off the bench.
Poveda offers something different. He might be slight but he can be a hugely tricky opponent to get to grips with and Newcastle won’t know much about him and won’t be expecting him to play.
Poveda can take Harrison’s spot on the left-wing, with Raphinha on the other flank. Both can play on either side and that could cause extra problems for Newcastle at Elland Road.
If it doesn’t work out then Bielsa can change it up at half-time, bringing on one of his more experienced wingers.
Pablo Hernandez could also come on and play on the right, with Raphinha switching over to the left. Rodrigo could even switch onto the right, with Hernandez taking a more central role.
Bielsa has so many options and so many good attacking players. It’s time to utilise them.
