MOT Super Fans: Predicted starting XI for Leeds v Sheffield Wednesday
This is part of a regular series from our panel of Leeds Super Fans. Each week, our Super Fans will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Elland Road and Thorp Arch
Leeds somehow stayed second in the Championship after drawing 1-1 with Preston on Tuesday night.
It means the last six results have thrown up two draws, two wins and two defeats, and it doesn’t get any easier on Saturday.
Sheffield Wednesday moved up to third in the table with their 1-0 win over Stoke and in Garry Monk they have a former Leeds manager who’s doing his best to reinvent himself as our nemesis.
Monk led Birmingham to 2-1 and 1-0 wins over Leeds last season, arguably stopping us from getting promoted, although that’s a rather reductive way of looking at a season’s results.
Marcelo Bielsa has some decisions to make about his starting XI for Saturday after he revealed that Liam Cooper and Jamie Shackleton are both fit again after injuries.
Pablo Hernandez and Adam Forshaw, unfortunately, will not make it and both are big losses.
Bielsa did give one massive spoiler in his press conference, that Patrick Bamford would start over Eddie Nketiah, but he didn’t go as far as naming his full XI as he has done before.
And that’s the question we asked our Super Fans – what is your starting XI for the game against Sheffield Wednesday?
Waz Moore (@Moorey73)
Simon Gardner (@simamuofficial)
Adam Ross (@rossi_on)
Adam Elliott (@adam_elliott118)
Lee Scott (@LeeScott321)
The take? Even more fans want Nketiah to start than when we asked the direct question over the strikers ahead of the Preston game.
Back then, both Daryl and Adam Elliott wanted Bamford up top. Both have switched to Nketiah now, although Daryl also put Bamford in his side.
A few want to see Shackleton straight back in but it’s a clean sweep for Cooper, who we think will return in the centre of defence.
