Mike Dean reacts instantly to Tyler Adams incident that sparked Leeds vs Bournemouth melee

Tyler Adams sparked controversy on his return to Elland Road.

Leeds are currently level with Bournemouth, though their chance of making Premier League history was halted by Antoine Smeneyo’s goal.

From then on, the game came to life, and Bournemouth midfielder Adams was at the heart of it.

Adams returned to Elland Road and was met with boos by the Leeds supporters, and they were only amplified after an incident late in the first half.

Antoine Semenyo gave Bournemouth the lead against Leeds, dispatching a close-range free kick emphatically under the wall.

Joe Rodon then equalised for Leeds, not long before Adams sparked the biggest talking point of the first half at Elland Road.

The USMNT international went in hard on Anton Stach, with Sean Longstaff and Jayden Bogle then going after the Cherries star for what they seemingly deemed as a dangerous challenge.

A small melee ensued at Elland Road, though Michael Oliver kept his cards in his pocket on this occasion, and Mike Dean thinks he was right to do so.

Via Sky Sports, he said when reacting to the challenge: “It was a bit of argy-bargy, nothing in it, bit of pushing and shoving. I think they’re just trying to liven the game up.”

Leeds need to take their chances vs Bournemouth

The score may be level, and for Leeds, that would be a good result against a very impressive Bournemouth side.

However, Leeds could have scored three in that first half, with several chances falling the way of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

We often talk about the importance of avoiding errors at the back in the Premier League, and the same can be said for going forward.

Leeds will not get too many chances in the second half, and it is going to be crucial that they take them, but perhaps most importantly, that they keep their heads.
