Midfielder axed in one change – Leeds United confirmed XI v Coventry City

Joe Rothwell has been dropped as Daniel Farke has named his Leeds United starting XI to face Coventry City in the Championship.

The Whites announced their starting line-up via their official X account (5 February) to take on Frank Lampard’s men away from home with Rothwell the only change to be made by the German from their 7-0 demolition of Cardiff last time out.

The German has evidently not chosen to change much about his starting line-up after their stellar performance with their squad finally seeming to be getting back to full fitness.

In his place comes Ilia Gruev, who adds more defensive stability, with the Whites hoping to continue their solid run of form and add yet another three points to their Championship tally.

Leeds United should beat Coventry on Wednesday

It’s no secret that this season, Leeds United have been one of the most dominant forces in the second tier with Farke’s men dismantling most opponents that they’ve faced.

While there have been some boring outings such as their games against Burnley, the fact they beat the Bluebirds 7-0 last time out shows the quality the West Yorkshire outfit possesses.

To be fair to the Sky Blues, they’ve been on a decent run of form in the Championship themselves with Lampard’s men losing just one of their last five second-tier clashes.

As things stand, Leeds are two points ahead of second-placed Burnley but with this game against Coventry on Wednesday, they could end up five points ahead of Scott Parker’s men with both sides having played the same amount of games.

Things are looking bright in LS11 at the moment and unless something drastic happens with Farke’s men, it’s hard to see how they won’t finish the campaign in one of the two automatic promotion spots this season.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are aware of the requirement to complete a transfer in the summer.
