Michael Owen reacts to Crysencio Summerville chance in Leeds United 2-0 loss v Manchester United
Leeds United suffered a 2-0 loss against Manchester United in a pulsating Premier League thriller on Sunday (12 February) at Elland Road.
Michael Owen was far from impressed with Crysencio Summerville who missed a glorious opportunity to give the Whites an early lead against the Red Devils.
Although Summerville was lively throughout the match and could have had one or two goals to his name, Owen says it was a sort of “cardinal sin” from the youngster who couldn’t keep the ball down from close range in the 6th minute of the game.

“This is Leeds’ first chance, and it’s a good chance,” said Owen on Premier League Tv production at the half-time interval (12 February, 2.50pm).
“Summerville just gets the run on Malacia. Malacia was ball-watching a little bit.
“It’s not easy, he’s [Summerville] under pressure. One thing you’re concentrating on that situation is keeping the ball down.
“It gives a cardinal sin really, as he hits it over the bar. That was the earliest chance.”
Superb
It was a sort of anti-climax in the end. The Whites were outstanding in the second half, and they created some terrific opportunities.
However, one moment of brilliance from Marcus Rashford turned the game in the visitor’s favour. Luke Shaw delivered a fantastic cross, and Rashford jumped to find the net.
It was a dagger blow to Leeds’ hopes. They kept on piling pressure in the second half and created a barrage of chances, but just couldn’t find that finishing touch.

Summerville was at the heart of every movement, and had a shot on target in the 77th minute, only to be saved by the outstretched legs of David de Gea.
Luke Ayling also came close with an acrobatic effort while Willy Gnonto terrorized the United defence through.
Jack Harrison also came to scoring, and on another day, Leeds could have had two or three goals at least. Despite the defeat, there are plenty of positives the players can take, but in the end, they will be left disappointed with the result.
